I am the Founder of Mindset Therapy and Wellness, an organization dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness. I earned my master's degree in social work from New Mexico Highlands University and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). With a deep commitment to meeting clients wherever they are on their journey, I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment where healing and growth can flourish. My passion lies in helping individuals uncover and shape their personal narratives and mindsets, using insight and humor to facilitate meaningful change. Known for my approachable, open, and nonjudgmental demeanor, I aim to empower each person I work with to reclaim their sense of self and build resilience.
In my practice, I bring a wealth of experience working with newborns, children, adolescents, and families across a variety of settings, including medical (NICU), clinical, and school social work. My areas of expertise include working with trauma survivors, facilitating attachment work, supporting those who are grieving, and addressing maternal mental health, women's concerns, depression, anxiety, and the unique needs of the LGBTQIA+ community. I also have extensive experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with ADHD, helping them develop effective coping mechanisms and communication skills.
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, integrating EMDR, trauma-informed therapy, attachment theory, a family systems approach, and a strengths-based approach into my practice. By tailoring my methods to each individual’s unique needs, I ensure that the care provided is both comprehensive and effective. My ultimate goal is to guide clients toward greater self-awareness, emotional healing, and lasting well-being.
Hello! My name is Michelle Romero. As a dedicated and compassionate licensed clinical social worker, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of diverse populations to my practice. I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree, along with a bachelor’s degree in special education from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, where my commitment to social justice and advocacy began during my undergraduate studies. I furthered my education by earning a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, which equipped me with advanced clinical skills and a solid foundation in evidence-based practices.
Born and raised in the Land of Enchantment, I have a profound appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry that defines New Mexico. The state’s vibrant traditions, languages, and histories have deeply influenced my approach to social work, allowing me to intimately understand the unique challenges and strengths of our communities.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in various areas of social work. In treatment foster care, I have worked closely with foster families, advocating for children and adolescents who deserve stability and nurturing environments, with a focus on healing trauma, building attachment, and supporting both caregivers and youth. In school social work, I have collaborated with teachers, parents, and students to address behavioral, emotional, and academic needs, facilitating IEP meetings, and providing crisis intervention to foster a positive school environment. My experience in mental health clinics has allowed me to guide individuals through depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, using empathy, active listening, and evidence-based interventions to promote healing.
My practice is rooted in a client-centered approach, recognizing that each person’s journey is unique. I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore their feelings, strengths, and goals. Whether conducting individual therapy or family sessions, my priority is to empower clients to advocate for themselves and find their own paths toward well-being.
