Founder & Clinical Therapist, Mindset Therapy and Wellness
Marissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Founder of Mindset Therapy and Wellness, where she brings over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families in navigating complex emotional, relational, and developmental challenges. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from New Mexico Highlands University and has practiced in a range of clinical settings, including medical, educational, and community-based environments.
Marissa specializes in trauma-informed therapy, attachment-based work, maternal mental health, grief and loss, and identity development across the lifespan. Her clinical focus includes working with trauma survivors, women’s issues, individuals navigating ADHD and autism, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. She is trained in EMDR and integrates evidence-based modalities with a relational, strengths-based framework to support each client’s unique path to healing.
Known for her open, grounded, and collaborative style, Marissa creates a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their inner world, process painful experiences, and reconnect with their sense of agency. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals work through dissociation, low self-worth, and complex relational dynamics rooted in early attachment experiences.
Through a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, Marissa supports clients in developing insight, emotional resilience, and meaningful connections—both within themselves and in their relationships

Hello! My name is Michelle Romero. As a dedicated and compassionate licensed clinical social worker, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of diverse populations to my practice. I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree, along with a bachelor’s degree in special education from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, where my commitment to social justice and advocacy began during my undergraduate studies. I furthered my education by earning a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, which equipped me with advanced clinical skills and a solid foundation in evidence-based practices.
Born and raised in the Land of Enchantment, I have a profound appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry that defines New Mexico. The state’s vibrant traditions, languages, and histories have deeply influenced my approach to social work, allowing me to intimately understand the unique challenges and strengths of our communities.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in various areas of social work. In treatment foster care, I have worked closely with foster families, advocating for children and adolescents who deserve stability and nurturing environments, with a focus on healing trauma, building attachment, and supporting both caregivers and youth. In school social work, I have collaborated with teachers, parents, and students to address behavioral, emotional, and academic needs, facilitating IEP meetings, and providing crisis intervention to foster a positive school environment. My experience in mental health clinics has allowed me to guide individuals through depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, using empathy, active listening, and evidence-based interventions to promote healing.
My practice is rooted in a client-centered approach, recognizing that each person’s journey is unique. I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore their feelings, strengths, and goals. Whether conducting individual therapy or family sessions, my priority is to empower clients to advocate for themselves and find their own paths toward well-being.
